Management Consulting

GWG’s Management Consulting services help organizations improve their performance, operating primarily through the analysis of existing organizational problems and the development of plans for improvement.

Organizations may draw upon the services of GWG for a number of reasons, including gaining external and objective advice and access to the GWG’s specialized expertise.

As a result of our exposure to, and relationships with numerous organizations, GWG is typically aware of industry "best practices”. We can provide organizational change management assistance, development of coaching skills, process analysis, technology implementation, strategy development, and operational improvement services to guide the identification of problems and to serve as the basis for recommendations for more effective or efficient ways of performing work tasks.

GWG provides many consulting services to assist you in finding the most cost efficient way of doing business. This includes Site Selection, Owner’s Rep Services, Operations Improvement, Financial Accounting, IT, and Relocation to name a few.

GWG provides Representative Services for Owners or Tenants to represent them during site selection, design and construction phases as well as relocation. That is because this job has become a vital tool in helping the owner save both time and money, especially as staff sizes shrink and the need for performance and quality-control monitoring rises.

The Owner’s Rep ensures the owner’s or tenant’s best interests are at the heart of every decision made. Owners/Tenants with limited knowledge of design, construction, phasing and relocation hire an Owner’s Rep to represent their interests and be the liaison between the broker, design team, landlords, contractors, and client vendors back to the owner.

Owner Rep’s are usually charged to monitor (not manage): (1) the design development process to ensure project scope is achieved; (2) the overall project budget (including FFE and other non-design/construction related costs); (3) the bidding process; (4) assist with jurisdictional reviews and project related mitigation issues; (5) construction related activities, including pay applications; (6) project close-out and occupancy; (7) move management and relocation. These are the main functions that GWG typically performs as an Owner’s Rep. There are certainly others; and depending on the size, complexity and experience of the owner, the role may vary.

GWG has extensive experience in industrial processes, consumable product manufacturing, logistics, and the distribution supply chain. Our experience in this field consists of space planning, distribution facilities design, relocation services, material handling optimization, operations improvement, warehouse management software systems (WMS), high-density storage systems, inventory analysis, slotting strategies, and site location analysis.

GWG likes to get involved at the very beginning of a client’s search for a new facility. We do an analysis of your present operation to get an idea of your space utilization, the way you operate and means for improvement. Some of the important parameters we use are an SKU analysis to see how you are managing your inventory, your growth rate, your fast movers (80/20 rule), customer base, and how you store, pick and ship.

We are also interested in your present software for managing the operation as we have much experience with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) and automation. In the search for a new facility we look at the site’s size and potential for growth including the height of the warehouse and rating of the sprinkler system for possible “high-pile” storage (over 12’ high). Dock space is also important as to the number of docks, their orientation, if equipped with built-in levelers and safety aspects.
